Summary The Italian Alpine Club (CAI): Pinerolo Section – News and Activities Pinerolo CAI was officially founded in 1926, but some activities had already taken place in 1877-1904 and 1907-1916. The CAI offices of Pinerolo are in Via Sommelier 26 (near to San Donato Church) and they are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 21:00-22.30 from January to the end of March; on Thursdays at 21:00-22.30 from April to the end of December (excluding bank holidays and August). Every year, Pinerolo section of the CAI organizes an important number of social, alpine, mountain bike and skiing excursions and related activities. A number of committees deal with different activities such as production of materials, management of the library, youth alpinism, mountain biking, excursions, news and media, alpine rescue and events.Our section has a mountain refuge – Canada House – Giuseppe Melano (1060 m) which is located at the rock climbing site Rocca Sbarua. The mountain refuge is currently under re-costruction. The material for the refuge was kindly donated to Pinerolo CAI by the Canadian government in occasion of the 2006 Winter Olympics.
